Flowers and hemp twine: summer mood! - Fiori e spago di canapa: aria d'estate!

Spring always comes, just like my floral necklaces and the hemp twine in this time of year. 

I like hemp twine because of its natural and wood-like color and consistency: it's fresh and smooth on the skin, it's sturdy and resistant and will keep its shape, that's why it's perfect for summer jewelry!

I usually try to enhance hemp texture and tones by matching it with one contrasting color: this time I chose turquoise, one of the summer colors par excellence, which blends perfectly with the hemp like the summer sky and sea do with the sand.

The big flower is decorated with a bunch of turquoise seed glass beads patiently and firmly hand sewn at the center and a turquoise paste drop pendant. The metal parts are in copper wire while the chain and clasp are in nickel free and copper finish metal.

I imagine this necklace on fresh and neutral linen or cotton blouses, large fluttering dresses or trousers and flat sandals in perfect summer style! I can already feel the sun and the breeze on my skin...

La primavera arriva sempre, così come le mie collane floreali in spago di canapa in questo periodo dell'anno.

Lo spago mi piace molto per il suo colore e la sua consistenza naturale e simile al legno: è fresco e liscio a contatto con la pelle, è compatto e resistente e mantiene la sua forma, ecco perché è perfetto per i bijoux estivi!

Solitamente cerco di accentuare e valorizzare le sue tonalità e il suo aspetto accostandolo ad un colore a contrasto: questa volta ho scelto il turchese, uno dei colori dell'estate per eccellenza, che si sposa divinamente con lo spago come l'azzurro del cielo e del mare con la sabbia dorata.

Il grande fiore simmetrico a sette petali è, infatti, decorato con delle perline di vetro turchesi pazientemente e saldamente cucite a mano e un pendente a goccia in pasta di turchese. Le parti metalliche sono in filo di rame modellato a mano, mentre la catenella e il moschettone per la chiusura sono in metallo nickel free placcato rame.

Ho immaginato questa collana su bluse, vestiti o pantaloni freschi, ampi e svolazzanti in lino o cotone dalle tonalità neutre e sandali bassi in perfetto stile estate! Riesco già a sentire il sole e la brezza sul viso...

Geometry #2: hemp cord + ceramic jewelry - Geometrie #2: gioielli in corda di canapa + ceramica.

After the first three geometric hemp + ceramic elements pendants I wrote about here, I decided to make some new pieces in colored hemp cord and ceramic elements in different colors. So here they are my latest pendants in the shades of chocolate brown and olive green (but I also have light blue, white, turquoise and a beautiful melange I can't wait to use).

I like the contrast between chocolate brown and aqua or yellow and the matching between olive green and cream, but my favorite among them is the first one: I definitely love these colors together!

I'm already working on other shapes and combinations because I think these necklaces with their colors and style are perfect for this season: thanks to their classical geometric shape and the chromatic choice, you will easily wear them on summer dresses or blouses, matching them with white, light blue, blue jeans, yellow, brown, ecru, turquoise...

I hope I'll be able to show you the new pieces very soon, in the meantime you can find these ones in my Etsy shop! :)

Dopo le prime tre collane geometriche in spago di canapa ed elementi di ceramica che Saida Jama di Perla di ceramica ha realizzato appositamente per me e di cui vi avevo già parlato qui, ho deciso di realizzare dei nuovi pezzi in corda di canapa colorata e perle di ceramica in diversi colori. E così sono nate le mie ultime collane nelle tonalità del marrone cioccolato e verde militare (ma ho anche altra corda color celeste, bianco, turchese e di delicate sfumature mélange che non vedo l'ora di usare).

Mi piace molto il contrasto tra il cioccolato e l'acquamarina o il giallo e anche l'abbinamento tra il verde militare e il panna, ma la mia preferita è la prima: adoro questi colori insieme!

Sto già lavorando ad altre forme e combinazioni di colore perché credo che queste collane, siano perfette per questa stagione: grazie alla loro classica forma geometrica e alla scelta cromatica, potrete indossarle facilmente su vestitini estivi o camicette, abbinandole sul bianco, celeste, blue jeans, giallo, marrone, ecrù, turchese...

Tribal style necklace - Monile in stile tribale

This is my latest ethnic-tribal Africa and Native America inspired necklace made of cotton yarn (NATURA Just Cotton DMC) and natural hemp twine. 

I decorated it with a big ceramic bead and copper finish beads. The back is reinforced and finished with a layer of brown faux leather accurately hand sewn. I tried to take care of every detail to make the entire composition result sturdy and resistant; I tried to obtain the desired size and to balance the proportions among its parts. 

Since I like thinking that my ethnic-tribal style creations are self-born from earth and nature, I used natural and earthy tones and materials. 

After hours and hours of work, I'm finally satisfied with the result and hope you can perceive the study and the attention I put to make it excactly the way it is.

Questo è il mio ultimo monile in stile etnico-tribale ispirato all'Afiuca e ai Nativi Americani, realizzato in cotone (NATURA Just Cotton DMC) e spago naturale di canapa.

L'ho decorato con una grossa perla centrale in ceramica e con perle in metallo rame. Il retro del medaglione è rinforzato e rifinito con uno strato consistente di pelle sintetica marrone accuratamente cucita a mano. Ho cercato di curare ogni minimo dettaglio al fine di ottenere una composizione solida e resistente; ho cercato di studiare la giusta dimensione e di bilanciare le proporzioni tra le varie parti e poiché mi piace pensare che le mie creazioni in stile etnico-tribale nascano da sé dalla Natura e dalla Terra, anche stavolta ho scelto tonalità e materiali caldi e naturali. 

Dopo ore e ore di lavoro, finalmente sono soddisfatta del risultato e spero che quanto meno si riesca a percepire l'attenzione che ho messo per rendere questa collana esattamente com'è. :)

Geometry: hemp + ceramic jewelry - Geometrie: gioielli in spago + ceramica.

I'm really enjoying using hemp twine! Lately I've been making these geometric pendants with big ceramic beads inserts. I like the contrast between the natural and opaque hemp twine and the polished and bright ceramic surface. I crocheted the hemp bezels to wich I sew these beautiful ceramic beads Perla di Ceramica by Saida Jama made just for me according to my specific request.

I think they are perfect for summer because of their materials, colours and style, don't you think?

Mi sto proprio divertendo con lo spago! Ultimamente ho realizzato queste collane geometriche con grosse perle di ceramica. Mi piace molto il contrasto tra i due materiali, lo spago naturale ed opaco e la superficie lucida e luminosa di questi cabochon. Ho lavorato ad uncinetto i castoni in spago sui quali ho poi cucito le bellissime perle di ceramica che Saida Jama di Perla di Ceramica ha realizzato appositamente per me.

Natural and earthy materials: HEMP TWINE/Materiali caldi e naturali: lo SPAGO DI CANAPA

I love using "warm", earthy and natural colours and materials for my jewelry and accessories. Natural hemp twine is one of my favorites: I like the fact that my jewelry keeps its shape because of hemp texture and consistency; I love its freshness on the skin, a very important quality since these kind of jewelry is perfect on summer dresses or blouses; and I hate how my fingers ache when crocheting or weaving it...but the result is worth the effort!

Only today I realized how many pieces in natural hemp twine I created over the last years, so I decided to collect all the pictures to show you how versatile this material can be -even if I treated it just as if it was a common yarn. I've essentially crocheted it to create bags and jewelry, but I guess I will soon experiment other techniques and make some home decor and accessories.

These items are mostly or partly made of hemp twine, while some others have just some hemp details.

Adoro usare colori e materiali "caldi" e naturali per i miei bijoux e accessori. Lo spago di canapa è uno dei miei materiali preferiti: mi piace che grazie alla sua consistenza i bijoux mantengano la loro forma; amo la sua "freschezza" sulla pelle, aspetto molto importante in quanto questi bijoux sono perfetti se indossati su camicette o vestitini estivi; e detesto, invece, quanto le mie dita soffrano nel lavorarlo...ma il risultato vale sicuramente lo sforzo!

Solo oggi mi sono resa conto di quanti pezzi in spago ho realizzato nel corso degli ultimi ann, così ho deciso di raccogliere le foto per mostrarvi quanto possa essere versatile questo materiale, benché io lo abbia usato solo al minimo delle sue potenzialità: infatti mi sono limitata a borse e bijoux per lo più lavorate a crochet (e ho trattato lo spago proprio come un comune filato), ma ho intenzione di riproporlo anche con altre tecniche e realizzarne anche accessori per la casa.

La maggior parte di queste creazioni sono quasi totalmente realizzate in spago, altre solo parzialmente, altre ancora presentano solo qualche dettaglio.
